Garbage Pick-up Rules & Regulations

Trash pick up is on MONDAY
(except when Monday is a holiday, then it will be picked up on Tuesday).

Authorized Village labeled bags should be placed at roadside by 7:00 a.m.
Local Law #8 of 1992 requires that all trash/garbage put out for municipal pick up must be placed in a distinctively labeled garbage bag.
These bags may be purchased at the Village Clerk’s Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at Happy Days Restaurant on Main Street from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
 
Bags cost $4 (small) or $5 (Large) -
Effective February 10th, 2005


Recyclable items, listed below, will also be picked up at no cost provided they are separated as follows:

tie with twine or place in a paper bag

rinse & place in any unlabeled bag

Glass

rinse, remove caps & place in unlabeled bag

Corrugated Card

flatten & tie with twine

Plastic Containers

rinse, remove caps & place in unlabeled bag

 

 

BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS

BILLING
Twice a year…APRIL 1 and OCTOBER 1.
As a Village inside resident your water charge is $200 per year (split between the two billings of $100), includes 100,000 gallons usage and is for a one-family residence.  For information on inside commercial, outside1 residential or commercial, please .

  PENALTIES
Payments will be received without penalty for 30 days.  A penalty of 7% will be imposed on the 1st of the month following the billing date, 8% the next month, 9% the next month and 10% for each month thereafter that the bill is delinquent.

  METERS
Meters are read twice a year, just prior to billing.

WATER ALLOWANCE
 50,000 gallons each six month period.

Any water used over and above this amount will be billed @ $2.25 per 1,000 gallons.

FLUSHING
Hydrants are flushed twice a year, just after billing.
Please look for notice of flushing dates since the water may be discolored for a short time and unsuitable for laundry.

LEAKS
Please be aware that leaks may take you over your allowance and subject you to considerable cost if left undetected.  A dripping faucet can waste 3 gallons a day.

SHUT OFFS
There is no reduction allowed in the annual water rent for shut offs.

TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP
It is the obligation of the property owner to advise the Water Commissioners in writing of said transfer and submit the names of the new owners.  Until such notification is received, the former owner is liable for the water rent.
